BHOPAL: Veteran Congress leader Kamal Nath has been made the president of Madhya Pradesh Congress (PCC).

The move is significant and it shows that the party is now in election mode.

While Kamal Nath has been made State Congress president, Jyotiraditya Scindia has been given the post of Chairman of Campaign Committee in Madhya Pradesh.

Kamal Nath, a former Union minister and MP from Chhindwara, now faced the tough task of taking on Shivraj SIngh Chouhan in the election year. The announcements were made on Thursday.

As per official order, Rahul Gandhi has appointed Kamal Nath as PCC President, Scindia as Chairman of Campaign Committee and four other working presidents which include Bala Bachchan, Ramniwas Rawat, Jitu Patwari and Surender Choudhary.

Arun Yadav was the chief of MP Congress for a long time and there were demands for his replacement from several quarters. Assembly elections will be held in the State later this year.
