BHOPAL: A farmer committed suicide after recording his plight in a video.

The incident occurred in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.

Vinod Patidar, 34, shot of a video of himself, alleging harassment at the hands of the money-lenders. Later, he consumed poison and ended his life.

Local residents said that Patidar was found unconscious in the fields at Alhed near Manasa. He was rushed to the primary health centre. However, his condition deteriorated. He was rushed to the district hospital. However, on way he succumbed.

Just before his last rites, the family members saw the video in his cell phone. The video was apparently shot just before he committed suicide. He had mentioned that the money-leders were harassing him and demanding money even though he had paid the due amount.

His tractor and land was also being seized by the money-lender, as per the video. Earlier, on January 4, Patidar had sent a letter to the PMO. He had asked for permission to commit euthanasia. The police officials say that investigation is on in this case.

The evidences are being examined and a case would be registered subsequently, say officials. Farmers have been committing suicide in Madhya Pradesh on a regular basis. Nearly 150 farmers ended life in the state in the last four months.
