Bhopal: A man from Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh tried to jump into the well of Lok Sabha while the lower house of Indian parliament was in proceeding on Friday late morning, creating commotion in the house.

The man, identified as Rakesh Singh Baghel, tried to jump into the well of the house from visitor’s gallery at around 11.20am. However, the security personnel present in the galley managed to apprehend him.

Two contradicting reasons for the man’s attempt to jump into the well have come to the fore, though both are related to the current hullabaloo over demonetization.

While it was initially said that Baghel wanted to protest the demonetization move by the Modi government, it later was reported that the man from MP was infuriated over the opposition’s attempt to disrupt the proceedings of the parliament houses.

The suddenness of the move of Baghel caught the members members of the house including finance minister Arun Jaitley, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, apart from speaker Sumitra Mahajan by surprise.

Baghel had entered the house with a visitor’s pass at the reference of BJP’s Bulandshahar MP Bhola Singh.

The man was later presented before speaker Sumitra Mahajan, who consulted on the matter with the members. Baghel was later let go with a warning, it was reported.
