Bhopal: The political discourse on surgical strike by India on Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) hit a new low on Wednesday in Bhopal.

Madhya Pradesh BJP spokesman and MLA Rameshwar Sharma made a highly offensive comment against Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam.

The statement soon become viral on social media and attracted strong reactions.

Sharma, while referring to apparent questioning of surgical strike by Kejriwal and Nirupam, said ‘those who are questioning surgical strike are people who would seek video recording of their parents’ wedding night (suhaag raat) to believe their parentage’.

The statement, made in Hindi, went viral on social media soon. AAP leader Neha Bagga, issued a statement saying that such statements show the extremely low mental level of the BJP leader.

Bhopal Member of Parliament (MP) and BJP leader Alok Sanjar also made a similar statement, saying ‘some leaders have a lot of questions on surgical strike. One wonders whether they ask their mothers about the identity of their fathers as well.”

The questioning of surgical strike by some leaders and the demands that Indian government come out with evidence on the strike has raised the hackles.

Many BJP leaders have come out with statements condemning and deriding these questions on surgical strike. However, the level of the discourse hit a new low with the statements of Sharma and Sanjar on Wednesday.
