BHOPAL: Raising objection to felicitation of certain police officers on Independence Day, Congress has said officials whose role was questionable in the Vyapam hard-disk seizure shouldn't have been awarded.

The party has said that it is distressing that officers who faced criticism and questioing over tampering of the hard-disk are being honoured. The party says that it sets a wrong precedent.

Chief spokesperson of Congress, KK Mishra, said that when trial of the case is on and the officers have been questioned by CBI regarding allegations of tampering, after seizure of the hard-disks, how could State government recommend their names for any award.

The party has expressed dissatisfaction over the felicitation of Dilip Soni, Kailash Patidar and Amod Singh Rathor. It has raised questions over the criterion for selecting them.

Mishra said that that if these officers were honourd, then why not others of the team. He alleged that those who protect or save the corrupt get felicitated in MP during the BJP rule.

The three officials of MP police have been given KF Rustomji award. They have also been handed over firearms for 'busting the Vyapam scam'. The hard-disk was seized from Nitin Mahindra's computer in July 2013.

However, there were allegations that after seizure, it was tampered. The whistle-blowers had raised the issue. Also, hard-disk and its cloned versions were sent to the labs for verification. The trial is still on in the case.
