Bhopal: In an emotional tale, an Indo-Pak love story has got into a rough patch with a Pakistani youth who married an Indian girl in Dewas of Madhya Pradesh sentenced to a year in jail for extending his stay in India illegally.

However, the future of the love story and its product – a one-year-old baby boy – looks uncertain as the youth Akbar Shah Durrani is most likely to be sent back to Pakistan after his release from jail in August. He has already spent 11 months in jail during court proceedings.

Akbar and his wife Safia’s love story started on the social media. Both Akbar and Safia are postgraduates, but Akbar worked in mobile shop in Pakistan. When their friendship turned into love, Akbar decided to come to India and look for work.

He started coaching classes in Dewas and married Safia in 2013. They had a son in 2015. Meanwhile, Akbar would keep going to Pakistan to extend his visa in India.

But when his application of extending visa before the deadline in July 2015 was not entertained, Akbar decided to stay on in India illegally. This landed him in trouble and he was arrested by Dewas police in August 2015.

Recently the local court sentenced him to a year in jail and Rs 1000 cash fine. He is to be deported to Pakistan after serving the sentence.

This development has shocked Safia as their future, especially with the kid, looks uncertain. She might move application to get visa to go to Pakistan, but her parents are uncertain about the outcome.
