Madhya Pradesh: One killed in blast in Orchha, several injured, houses damaged in explosion

BHOPAL: One person was killed while eight others were injured in a blast in Orchha, the famous temple town in Madhya Pradesh.

The impact of the blast was such that several houses were badly damaged in the vicinity.

The house in which the explostion took place, was completely destroyed.

According to police, the blast took place in Orchha's Ladpura at around 4 am on Wednesday. After the debris was cleared, the police found illegal arms including three country-made pistols, live cartridges and detonator too.

The blast took place in the house of Natthu Singh Kushwaha. He died in the incident.  His wife, kids and family members were injured. Some neighbours also got injured in the incident.

The injured people were rushed to the hospital while those with serious injuries were referred to Jhansi. The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the explosion. Officials said that he had no licence to even sell explosives or crackters.

Police officials have begun a probe to find out the nature of explosives kept in the house, the reason for storage and about the activities of the person (who got killed in the blast).

It is not known how he was illegally storing the explosives. The Bomb Disposal Squad and forensic experts also reached the spot. Orchha, which is located in Tikamgarh, is one of the most well-known tourist spots in the country.
