Man sets self afire in front of outgoing Vyapam tainted Governor's cavalcade

BHOPAL: High-drama was witnessed in Bhopal when outgoing Governor Ramnaresh Yadav was leaving the Raj Bhawan.

Yadav's tenure ended today and OP Kohli is replacs him as new Governor.

Today, as Yadav was about to leave for UP, when a man set himself afire in front of his cavalcade. The person--Manoj Tripathi was demanding Yadav's arrest in connection with the Vyapam scam.

Ramnaresh Yadav's name had figured in the Vyapam scam and it was mentioned in the FIR too. However, as he was on a constitutional post, he got immunity. The FIR against him was quashed. Now that he is no longer Governor, he can be questioned and arrested.

Tripathi claims to be member of Jai Lok Party, a little-known political outfit. He set himself afire. The policemen on the spot, acted swiftly and the fire was put out. His clothes had caught fire but he wasn't burnt seriously. He was taken away for medication. Later, he would be questioned by the police, said officials.

During investigation in Vyapam scam, it was found that many persons were recruited after Governor House recommended their names. Yadav's son was also named in the scam and had died in mysterious circumstances in his house in Lucknow.
