BHOPAL: BJP leader Jaibhan Singh Pavaiya was furious when he saw the prefix 'Shrimant' along with former Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia's name.

Pavaiya, who is Minister for Higher education, got so angry that he asked officials to removed the honorific.

The incident occurred when the minister had gone to inaugurate a new power sub-station in Ashoknagar district.

The minister, who is a known Scindia baiter, and has always opposed use of hororifics for scions of the former rulers of princely states expressed his irritation publicly.

Wasn't 'Shree' enough?, he asked. Rather than speaking about the scheme and the project, he devoted his entire speech to the complex among people regarding the Scindia family, terming it as 'mental slavery'. "The painter's hands must have trembled while writing Shri and hence he wrote Shrimant", he said.

"The department would never have asked to write Shrimant but it was written on the plaque. This is democracy, everyone is equal either it is the cleanliness worker of an ex-queen of any princely state", Pavaiya said.

"It is our generosity that we invite him (Scindia) in our functions but this can't be tolerated". However, despite his verbal attack and instruction to officials, the word 'Shrimant' remained. Congress leader Gajram Singh Yadav said that Scindia never wants anyone to write 'Shrimant' before his name. "Why does Pavaiya writes Kunwar as prefix, if he is against honorifics?', he asked.
