BHOPAL: Senior BJP leader Babulal Gaur once again made a statement that put the party leaders in the dock.
Gaur said that earlier people brought 'suitcases' (bribe) for politicians but were returned. "But now the situation has changed and politicians themselves call for suitcases", he said.
"On my orders, bulldozers were razing unauthorised structures and a person had brought suitcase filled with cash", Gaur recalled an old incident.
"I sent him back and told Patwa Ji about it". "In those days, it was not possible for any leader to accept it. However, it's different now. Now leaders themselves ask for suitcases", he added.
He was speaking at a condolence meet where leaders had gathered to pay respects to former chief minister Sunderlal Patwa, who passed away recently.
However, Gaur's comments haven't gone down well in BJP circles. Always known as an outspoken leader, Gaur has lately been critical of the government. "If Gaur sahab has any complaint, he should inform the chief minister about it", said a BJP spokesperson.
