Bhopal: In an important development, the MP Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) has recommended that the state government come up with comprehensive economic plan to safeguard future of rape survivors.
On Monday, in context of the rape case of a class 10 student from Balaghat district, the HRC recommended that the government should chalk out such plan where the rape survivor girls/women would get immediate economic compensation irrespective of their caste or class. Also there should be a provision to safeguard the future of these survivors economically. This economic provision should be able to take care of education, medical needs and stable future for the rape survivors on the lines of the Laadli Laxmi Scheme provisions for girls, the commission has said.
In an official statement, the commission has said that presently there is no such provision to take care of survivors who often lose their academic continuity and good health due to the trauma.
RS 2 LAKH FOR BALAGHAT SURVIVOR
Meanwhile, the commission has also recommended that Rs two lakh should be paid to the Balaghat rape survivor, apart from the compensation under present rules. This fund should be deposited for the survivors’ future needs, the commission has said.
