Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board has been in the midst of a controversy once again. On this occasion, allegation of bungling of funds to the tune of crores has been raised.
The Bhopal Muslim Samaj Sewa Committee (BMSSC) chief Azim Durrani has alleged that there has been large-scale corruption in the Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board.
Durrani has listed irregularities in scholarship disbursement, misappropriation of funds, unauthorised payments from different heads and construction of boundary wall of Idgah.
He alleged that large-scale corruption in the waqf properties led to loss of revenue. He said that fixed deposit amount to the tune of Rs 50 lakh was withdrawn before the timelimit, illegally, and where it was spent, there is no record.
He alleged that contractors were paid Rs 25 lakh for boundary wall construction through entry in cash book but no receipt was taken.
Addressing a presss conference, Durrani said that there was no record as to how the scholarships were disbersed and who were beneficiaries.
Similarly, there are irregularities in giving out properties on rent and other property related issues. He claimed that the audit reports for the years 2013-14 and 2014-15 clearly show irregularities to the tune of crores.
