Harda: On auspicious Dhanteras day on Friday, while citizens in Harda were busy making customary purchases, they were surprised and shocked to see a group of farmers in front of Ghantaghar at heart of the market, offering to sale their organs and blood.

The loss-ridden farmers were participating in a unique demonstration to protest apathy of the state and central government towards their plight. The demonstration was organized under the banner of Aam Kisaan Union.

The farmers were holding paper banners to their chest, offering to sell their kidney, lungs  and other organs to make up for the losses incurred by them due to poor price of Kharif crops received by them.

Kedar Sirohi said that on one hand the farmers received poor price of Kharif crops, on other the seeds for Rabi crops were available at very high rates. Also the farmers had not received their crop insurance for damage to their Kharif crops last year. Also chemical fertilizers were not available at cooperative shops.

The farmers were also under immense pressure to repay bank loans and electricity and irrigation water bills.

The farmers said that rather than committing suicide, they were offering to sell their body parts so that they could feed their families.

The union has said that if the government does not pay attention to their issues, they would have to take drastic steps.
