Padmavati row: MP leader announces cash reward for hitting Bhansali with shoe

BHOPAL: Rajput groups are up in arms in Madhya Pradesh against Sanjay Leela Bhansali over his upcoming movie, Padmavati.

Protests and demonstrations were held in different cities in Madhya Pradesh, even though the production house has announced that no romantic alliance of Alauddin Khilji and Padmavati would be shown in the film.

Still, in several towns in MP, Rajput Samaj members took out protest marches and held demonstrations, warning Bhansali.

In Hoshangabad, Municipal council president Akhilesh Khandelwal, a BJP leader, has announced reward to anyone who would hit Sanjay Leela Bhansali with a footwear.

Khandelwal has announced Rs 10,000 reward. Rajput Samaj against Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In Rajgarh, Rajputs came out on streets.

The Kshatriya Samaj members staged demonstration. They said that Rajput history was being targeted. "They are distorting history and this is a criminal offence", Vijaypal Bhati.

In Khilchipur, Maharana Pratap Youth Brigade set fire to Bhansali's effigy. Brigade's Mahendra Singh Jhala called the movie, an insult to Rajputana Samaj. He said that if the film is screened, there would be a strong agitation.
