Harda: A group of lawyers in Harda have lodged a police complaint against Google, taking objection to the fact that the name of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi appears at number one in the list of top ten criminals of world in Google search.

Half a dozen lawyers including senior advocate Prakash Tank submitted a written complaint at the Kotwali police station in Harda on Tuesday, demanding that a FIR be lodged against Google and due legal action initiated.

The complaint has been received at the police station. In-charge of Kotwali, Pankaj Tyagi said that he was out of station for the day, but if the complaint has been received, investigation would be initiated.

“If the matter is outside our purview, advice would be sought from senior officials and the complaint duly forwarded,” the policeman said.

Earlier in July, the Allahabad High Court ordered a criminal case against the US-based tech major and issued notice its chief executive officer in a similar complaint filed by a local lawyer.

In the Harda complaint, the lawyers have said that appearance of Modi’s name in list of top criminals is a grave insult to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also to India as a country. Therefore, criminal proceedings should be initiated against the search engine.

The complainants also submitted copies of printout of Google search results on top ten criminals in world as an evidence of the grudge.
