LUCKNOW: In a horrific incident, a woman was gang graped and murdered on the temple premises in Badaun in Uttar Pradesh.

The incident had occurred on January 3, 2021. The victim's body was found and the post-mortem report confirmed the worst fears.

Two persons were already arrested and the prime suspect, the priest--Mahant Satya Narayan, has now been caught.

According to the police sourced, the 50-year-old woman had gone to the temple. Later, she was found murdered. The condition of the body suggested that she was raped and tortured, as there was a fractured leg and injuries in her private parts. Subsequently, a case was registered.

Two co-accused, Jaspal and Ved Ram, had been arrested initially. But the prime suspect, Satya Narayan, was absconding. He was hiding near the village for almost four days. Locals finally came to know about his whereabouts because a devotee was providing him food articles.

The police had announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 on his arrest. The victim was an anganwadi worker. National Commission for Women (NCW) delegation met her family and said that suspension of station officer (SO), Ughaiti police station, was not enough in such a sickening and heinous case.
