Uma Bharti questions BJP taking support from legislator facing criminal cases

BHOPAL: Senior BJP leader Uma Bharti has questioned party's decision to accept the support of a legislator accused of crime in Haryana.

In a series of tweets, Bharti strongly raised her concern. "Gopal Kanda is the person because of whom a girl (air hostess Geetika Sharma)had committed suicide and later her mother too ended life, the case is in court & he is out on bail".

"Whether he is innocent or guilty, it will be proved in the court but winning election doesn't acquit him. She said that party should have leaders who have a clean record and good character.

"I urge party leaders not to forget its moral core". After its poor show in Haryana Assembly election, party is looking for outside support to form the new government. Kanda was earlier accused of rape though the charge was later dropped.

Earlier a Congress minister, he was forced to resign due to the allegations. He has now openly expressed support to BJP. He was named in two case of abetment to suicide (Geetika and her mother) and was forced to resign in the past.
