BHOPAL: The fire in Sushasan Express train in Gwalior recently was the handiwork of two boys who wanted to take selfie alongside the burning coach.

The incident had occurred when the train was stationed at the Gwalior railway station. One of the coach was badly burnt. However, during the course of investigation, it was found that two minors were involved in the fire.

When quizzed, they said that they did it just for ‘fun’, said railway police sources. RPF official Ashish Mishra told media persons that two minor boys were involved in the incident and were caught.

“They said that they wanted to do something unusual and take selfie so as to show it to friends”, said an RPF official. “The boys had gone into the train compartment and set fire (after making a heap of garbage and waste) to the berths but as fire spread, they realized that they had made a big mistake and ran away”, he added.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) team that conducted probe scanned CCTV footage and found that two boys had left the spot after the incident. The boys were identified. They hail from Ara Mill, a locality near the railway station.

Both the boys are teenagers and studied in Xth standard. The boys earlier also tried certain unusual things, made videos and posted them on social media to shock friends but on this occasion, it went a bit too far.

The incident took place on August 4 but it took nearly a fortnight to crack the case. The loss of over Rs 50 lakh was estimated in the fire. Both the boys were detained and later sent to the home for juvenile delinquents.
