Bhopal: An Uzebkistan woman who was 'caught' in Bhopal and sent to prison, has sought Rs 10 cr from MP government as compensation.

The woman, Jurayaba Barno, 35, who was pregnant, when police caught her in Bhopal, for lack of proper documents, gave birth to a child in jail.

She alleges that it was because of the local police' mistreatment that she was not even allowed to contact her embassy.

As a result, she had to suffer the incaraceration and stayed in prison for months, where she gave birth to the baby. She claims that the police harassment and wrong process led to her arrest and undue suffering for long.

In her application filed in the Bhopal court, she has written that had the police been sensitive despite knowing that she was pregnant, she won't have been in jail still.

In the same application, she has demanded that MP government should pay her Rs 10 crore as damages to her.

She was on a vist visa to Nepal. But she claims that some persons drugged her and brought to India. In Bhopal, she had gone to SSP office on December 8 but instead of listening to her problems, she was sent to police station, the next day.

Subsequently, she was arrested under Foreigners Act and was sent to judicial custody. She worked in a restaurant in Uzebkistan and lived with her mother.
