BHOPAL: In one of the most sensational murder cases in recent years in Bhopal--Manish Takhtani murder case, the court has sentenced his wife Sapna Takhtani for planning her husband's murder.

Sapna's paramour Harshpreet Saluja has also been sentenced to life. He had shot Manish twice in the head and stomach. Later, Manish's body was burnt by pouring diesel on it to avoid early identification.

Manish Takhtani, 32, lived in Panchvati Colony. He married Sapna in 2007. However, Sapna was in love with Harshpreet. Manish was murdered on November 11, 2013. After identification of the body, the police found his car.

Blood was found in the car too apart from fingerprints. On the basis of phone calls received on his phone, police found that Manish had got several calls from a number. Soon the police found that it was Harshpreet who had committed the murder.

The crime was committed at the instance of Sapna, Manish's wife. Manish Takhtani was a businessman who dealt in plywood. But Sapna knew Harshpreet even before her marriage. When he again started meeting her, she got close to him. Soon, they decided to get rid of Manish.

They planned to 'eliminate' Manish. Sapna had left home sometime ago and had gone back to Khandwa. Harshpreet called up Manish and said that he could tell her the reason why she had left home. When Manish reached there, Harsh shot him inside the car.

The spot of murder was Koh-e-Fiza. He then drove to BHEL where he dumped the body and set it afire. Police said that Sapna and Harsh had decided that after Manish's murder, they would marry after sometime. Sapna, Harshpreet and Harshpreet's employee Aamir have been awarded life sentence. The court said that there was no question of leniency in the case of such a cold-blooded murder.
