BHOPAL: Farmers continue to end their life in Madhya Pradesh. In the latest incident, a farmer committed suicide in Burhanpur.

Police said that Ganesh Patel, 45, consumed pesticide and died in a hospital later. Family members said that  Patel was under debt and was depressed because there was pressure of money-lenders to pay back the amount.

Though he had around ten acres of land, the crop had failed repeatedly. He had taken loan from bank and also from private money-lenders. But due to failure of cotton crop and later soyabean crop, he was devastated.

The deceased's kin said that he had no money and was unable to pay the instalments of the equipment he had purchased for cultivation. He went to fields in the evening and didn't return.

After his family members searched, they found him lying in the fields in a semi-conscious state. He was taken to Jalgaon for treatment but he could not be saved. The local police are conducting a probe in this case.
