Army man relieved of Rs 100 notes and thrown off train in Madhya Pradesh; critical

Bhopal: An army man, travelling aboard the Chennai-bound GT Express was thrown off train, after allegedly being relieved of Rs 100 notes that he was carrying.

The incident occurred near the Multai Railway station in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh.

The army personnel Nakul Mallikarjun, who hails from Hissar in Haryana and is currently posted in Goa, received severe head injuries and a fracture in arm. He was referred to the Betul district hospital after initial treatment at Multai.

Sources said that the jawan was repeatedly changing his statements about the incident. Since he has received head injuries, he would be questioned later in detail by police, sources added.

According to the preliminary information, the army man fell off near the Multai Railway station on Sunday morning. After being spotted, he was brought to the Multai hospital, where he told doctors that he was thrown off by some miscreants who looted Rs 100 notes that he was carrying.

Later, however he said that he had fallen off by himself. Since the jawan is in shock after the accident, his statement might be recorded later.

Currency woes: Woman dies after refused treatment in Gwalior

Meanwhile, an elderly woman died in Gwalior after a private hospital reportedly denied her treatment due to unavailability of new or usable currency.

Chandrakala Shukla’s son told media persons that Yadav Memorial Hospital refused treatment to his mother as he had only Rs 500/1000 currency notes. He took his mother back home and she was taken to hospital again after arrangement of money, but Chandrakala succumbed.

The chief medical and health officer of Gwalior has said notice would be served to the private nursing home.

Also reports of cane charge on a crowd that created ruckus at Uchehra branch of Allahabad due to unavailability of currency came in.
