MP cops booked after 'thrashing' RSS leader over comment against Owaisi

BHOPAL: A Rashtriya Swaymsevak Sangh (RSS) leader was allegedly beaten up by police officials in Madhya Pradesh. 

These policemen were later booked for attempt to murder and robbery apart from other sections.

The incident occurred at Baihar in Balaghat district. The RSS leader, Suresh Yadav, was allegedly thrashed by the police personnel.

This was after a complaint made by some local residents about 'objectionable' comments made by Yadav against AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi on social media. The complaint was made to the town inspector (TI) Ziaul Haq, in-charge of the Baihar police station.

Subsequently, Additional SP Rajesh Sharma, TI Ziaul Haq, Sub-inspector Anil Ajmeria, ASI Suresh Vijywar, constable Uikey and half-a-dozen other policemen reached he RSS office.

UPDATE

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajesh Sharma has been suspended. This was announced on Wednesday. Home Minister Bhupendra Singh confirmed it during the BJP's state executive meet in Gwalior.

The executive began on Wednesday. BJP leaders were upset over the alleged assault on RSS pracharak and demanded stern action. Meanwhile, there is anger among police too over the case registered against policemen and the subsequent action.

"Suresh Yadav was taken to police station and on way to police station, he was roughed up. Yadav tried to save himself and ran into a medical shop but was chased and again beaten, taken to police station and thrashed again", allege RSS workers. 

Yadav is district pracharak of RSS. As RSS workers came to know about the incident, they informed the organisation leaders. A bandh call was given in Baihar today. Several protests were held, demanding action against the police officials.

Subsequently, a case of attempt to murder registered against Additional SP Rajesh Sharma, SI Anil Ajmeria and over half-a-dozen policemen. Surprisingly, they have been booked under sections meant for rioting and robbery too.

Apart from RSS leader's FIR, a separate FIR has also been registered on the complaint of one, Swami Prasad. TI Ziaul Haq has been removed from Baihar police station. Further, inquiry is on into the case.

SP Dr Asit Yadav has also reached Baihar in view of the incident. The RSS workers have been demanding arrest of all the police officials named in the FIR. However, the local officials said that the situation is now under control.
