BHOPAL: An RTI activist who was injured in suspicious circumstances, succumbed to the injuries in a hospital in Bhopal on Sunday.

Manoj Tripathi, 37, who had filed complaints against several influential persons including a legislator (plaint was made to Election Commission recently), was found injured near the residential complex in Kolar where he stayed.

Tripathi was admitted to a private hospital in Shahpura. However, he couldn't be saved. Surprisingly, police had said that he jumped off the roof after a family dispute.

The police said that they had got information from Dial 100 ambulance about it. However, the family members including his wife and his cousin contradicted the statement and said that police version was untrue.

They assert that police were already on the spot when they reached. Also, they allege that the police didn't even call ambulance and they (family) managed to get him into the car and took him to hospital.

Several activists have suspected foul play in the case and have demanded a fair investigation. Tripathi had made complaint about a BJP leader (legislator in last Assembly) to Chief Election Commissioner
