BHOPAL: A lineman lost his life to insensitivity of the MP power company officials.

The Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) has now sought a report from the Madhya Pradesh Power Compnay officials in this regard.

The victim, Amin Khan, 28, was repairing the power line when sub-station suddenly re-started electricity supply.

This incident occurred in Mukhtiarpur in Sehore district on Sunday. Khan, who had not been provided safety gear--neither gloves nor shoes, received a severe electric shock. He was stuck to the power line and died on the spot.

MPHRC has sought a report from Madhya Pradesh Power Distribution Company officials, especially, the Executive Engineer, and and Superintendent of Police (SP) Sehore, in this regard.

This is not the first such incident. Earlier also, lineman have died in similar circumstances in different cities including Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. They were not provided the necessary safety gear.

Their job is highly risky and it is imperative that they wear the gear, however, despite directions, the officials have failed to ensure the safety of the lineman. The Sehore incident has once again highlighted the carelessness of the power company officials.
