BHOPAL: Taking strong exception to the school authorities forcing Muslim girls to take off hijab, the Shahar Qazi has written to the district education officer (DEO) urging him to take action.

"I have come to know that there have been incidents of misbehaviour with Muslim girls who wear hijab and they have been scolded, threatened that they would not be allowed to appear in examination in Anand Vidya Mandir school".

"This is absolutely wrong and unjust. It amounts to harassment. If there is any apprehension of copying or use of unfair means during paper, then lady teacher can frisk the girls".

".. but mistreating, scolding and asking the girls that they would not be allowed to appear in examination is intolerable", writes Shahar Qazi Syed Mushtaq Ali Nadvi in his letter.

Nadvi has raised the issue of alleged harassment with Muslim girls who wear hijab at Anand Vidya Mandir school in Bhopal.

"Kindly, take stern action, so that the girls can appear in examinations without any fear. And such schools should not be made examination centres", he further mentions in the letter.
