BHOPAL: Did the suspected SIMI men who were killed in an 'encounter' in Bhopal, had an idea that they would be dead?

One of them, Salik, had told his grandmother that he would meet her in heaven.

The elderly woman who arrived in Bhopal recounted what her grandson Salik had told her when she had last met him, before his death.

The 82-year-old woman who was mostly reticent, said this when asked by journalists about the incident. The kin of some the slain men came to Bhopal recently for appearing before the Justice Pandey commission.

"Salik knew that legally there were full chances that he would be released but still he was apprehensive. He said that if he came out, he will take me to Haj. He said that elsewe will meet in jannat (heaven)", said his octogenarian grandmother Hujra Bi.

Media persons spoke to the kin who came for the hearing. "He had a suspicion that he would not live and hence he said that", she added, while responding to query. The encounter had taken place on October 31, 2016.

A jail guard was killed and later the SIMI men were killed. After nationwide furore and amid suspicion that it was a fake encounter, the inquiry was ordered. The commission's term has been extended by six months recently.
