LUCKNOW: The vice-chancellor of a prominent University in Uttar Pradesh has made a shocking statement.

The VC asked students to not come back crying after a tiff, instead thrash or even murder.

Raja Ram Yadav, who is vice-chancellor of the Purvanchal University, said it in a function in full public view.

Addressing the gathering, VC told the students not to come to him, crying in case of a row. "I am telling you one thing. Beat them up or murder them. I will see the rest", he added.

The exact words: "'Agar aap Vishwavidyalay ke chhatr ho to rote hue kabhi mere paas rote hue mat aana, ek baat bata deta hoon, agar jhagda ho jaye to pitai karna...murder kar ke aana, ham dekh lenge'.

The teaching fraternity has distanced itself from the statement. Local politicians have also condemned the speech and said that it was unbecoming of an educationist to make such a statement.
