BHOPAL: Aam Admi Party (AAP) has said that the agreement with the Lanco Power Limited would hurt the people of the State.

Terming it illegal, the party has said that this would result in loss of Rs 10,000 crore to people of State.

"It is strange that MP government had black-listed this company. Now comes the agreement with the same company", said Alok Agarwal, state convenor AAP.

"Initially, Lanco inked an agreement with MP electricity board and it was decided that state government would buy power at the maximum rate of Rs 2.35 per unit", he said.

"However, after taking all the necessary clearances and getting funds, the company cancelled the agreement on its own and sold power in open market to earn hundreds of crores, instead of selling electricity to MP", he added.

"It is shocking that Shivraj Chouhan government is again trusting the same company, which had earlier betrayed the people of the state. Now the company can increase the power tariff".

"It could result in Rs 10,000 crore additional burnden on people of state in coming 25 years. Agarwal said that Shivraj goverment should clarify why a company that cheated people of MP is again being trusted and under what pressure the government was forced to sign the agreement. "Why costly power is being bought when consumers in Delhi are getting electricity at much lower rate".
