BHOPAL: The All India Milli Council (AIMC) is holding its conclave in Bhopal.

As many as 300 delegates including Ulema and intellectuals from all over India would arrive for the meet.

The event would be held at Imperial Sabre hotel on October 28 and 29.

"There will be deliberations on the issues concerning Muslims. Also, election of the office-bearers would also be held during the two day meet", said Arif Masood, who heads the Istiqbalia committee. "This is the first time that Milli Council is organising its conclave in Bhopal", he said.

The AIMC members would also discuss the strategy for the upcoming Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand. In the past, Milli Council has issued advisory to Muslims about voting choice ahead of the polls.

On a question over the ongoing triple talaq issue, Masood said that AIMC stands with All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) in this regard.

Masood said that the issue was deliberately raised to divert attention of people from issues like corruption, price rise and failure to provide jobs.

After the conclave, a public event that would focus on 'Justice, Peace and Our Responsibilities' would be held at the Iqbal Maidan on October 29.

Jamiat Ulama's Maulana Mohammad Ahmad said that the constitution gives people to follow their religions and have their own rites and rituals.

"When it comes to personal law, just Muslims are targeted though Hindus, Christians, Jains, Sikhs, Tribals and other communities too have laws in accordance with their requirements", he said.

Maulana Maseeh Alam said that Muslims are not going to tolerate the needless intervention and the attempts to target the community. "All Muslim scholars, irrespective of their sects, are united and have the same stand on this issue", he said.
