Bhopal: The MP Human Rights Commission has directed the state government to take effective and stringent action to stop incidents that violate the dignity of women.

The commission has made recommendations in this regard to the state government in context of a report that mentioned naked parading of 31 women in Madhya Pradesh from year 2013 to 2015.

The commission has recommended that the state government should explore the possibility of appeal in the cases were the accused of such crime have been acquitted.

If possible, appeals should be filed in higher court and the cases should be monitored by officers of level of inspector general of police (IGP).

Similarly the government should ensure that in such cases that are pending in court, the prosecution action should be effective and strong.

Also steps should be taken to ensure that such criminal incidents (of naked parade) do not take place.

The commission has suggested that the police should make its information network strong in villages and create awareness among people to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

Taking cognizance of newspaper report regarding violation of dignity of women, the commission had sought report from police headquarters. The report mentioned that in three out of nine cases, the accused were acquitted, in only one case the accused was sentenced to ten years in jail, whereas others were under judicial or investigative process, a statement by additional director (public relations) of MPHRC, L R Sisodia has said.
