Government removes 25,000 home guards personnel in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW: The services of 25,000 home guards personnel have been terminated in Uttar Pradesh.

The home guards who are daily wage employees, assist police in law-and-order as well as traffic management.

An order was issued in this regard after a recent meeting that was chaired by the chief secretary of the state. ADG BP Jogdanand issued the order.

Also, nearly 75,000 other personnel will be affected as their duty days will be reduced from the existing 25 days (per month) to just 15.

The decision has been taken due to 'budgetary constraints'. After the court order to raise the 'honorarium' from Rs 500 per day to Rs 672, the home guards will now have to report 15 days, instead of 25.
