BHOPAL: Habitual boozers' names would be recorded in all the liquor shops across Madhya Pradesh.

The state government has decided that the liquor shops will record names of all the habitual drinkers.

The names would be sent to the State government, which will keep the database.

However, this database would not be made public. This is the latest in the series of steps by Shivraj Singh Chouhan government to discourage the consumption of alcohol.

The State government has stopped giving fresh licences to liquor shops. It has also removed liquor shops from near Narmada bank and plans more such steps.

In the cabinet, it was decided that liquor bottles and shops would carry warning that consumption of alcohol is bad for health. The government says that revenue loss is nothing as citizens' health is much more important. Photo courtesy: Theviewspaper
