BHOPAL: Tiger is roaming around in Kerwa, a tourist spot, in the outskirts of Bhopal.

After pugmarks were found in the area, alarmed forest authorities have begun combing operation and cameras are being used to locate the tiger. Citizens have been asked not to venture into Kerwa area after 4.00pm

Apart from a tiger, two young tigresses are also in the area, it is learnt. This has forced authorities to put curb on movement of people in the area.

Once again, there is panic in the area though this is not the first such occasion when tiger has been found moving in the city. Tiger movement has been increasing in Kerwa, Kalia Sot and Kolar areas of Bhopal.

Experts say that this is a traditional corridor of tigers from Ratapani sanctuary, adjoining Bhopal. Hence, the tigers occasionally stray into populous areas.

Forest officials suspect that it is Tiger, T-1, which has strayed into the Kerwa area. Also, there is movement of two young tigresses. Activist Ajay Dubey told NewsBits that Forest officials have been urged to look into the aspect as to why tigers move towards Bhopal and not on other sides of the Ratapani sanctuary.

"One reason could be that the other sides dont' have prey base because pastures have dwindled there. However, forest department hasn't undertaken any study into this aspect even as tigers and people continue to pose threat to each other".
